About The Alliance

The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William (The Alliance) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening collaboration across the human services sector. Formed through a community-driven planning process, The Alliance builds on more than 30 years of regional coordination to advance partnerships among nonprofits, faith-based organizations, public agencies, and community leaders.

Core funding is provided by the Prince William County Department of Social Services, supplemented by membership dues and fundraising efforts. The Board of Directors reflects a diverse cross-section of leadership from Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive and strategic leader of The Alliance, responsible for overall organizational performance, including strategy, operations, financial management, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED works in close partnership with Board members, staff, consultants, and community stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability. This role supervises a small team and manages external contractors.
 

 

Key Responsibilities

· Leadership & Governance

· Partner with the Board of Directors to advance the mission, strategic priorities, and organizational effectiveness

· Serve as the primary liaison to the Board, ensuring timely, accurate communication and informed decision-making

· Act as the primary spokesperson and representative of The Alliance to members, partners, funders, and the public
 

Strategy & Community Impact

· Lead implementation of the strategic plan, including development of programs, partnerships, and initiatives

· Strengthen The Alliance’s visibility and impact through active community engagement and collaboration

· Foster member engagement and lead recruitment efforts to grow and diversify membership
 

Financial Management & Fundraising

· Develop and manage the annual budget in partnership with the Board

· Ensure sound financial stewardship, including reporting, compliance, and risk management

· Lead fundraising efforts, including grant development, donor engagement, and resource diversification
 

Operations & Administration

· Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals

· Recruit, manage, and retain staff and consultants

· Establish and maintain organizational policies, procedures, and systems

· Oversee contracts, agreements, and organizational commitments as authorized by the Board
 

Communications & Outreach

· Lead marketing and communications efforts, including digital presence (website, social media, and databases)

· Promote The Alliance’s mission, programs, and impact to key stakeholders and the broader community
 

 

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

· Demonstrated leadership experience with high integrity and sound judgment

· Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, analysis, and reporting

· Experience in strategic planning, program development, and organizational leadership

· Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and donor engagement practices

· Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills

· Proven ability to build relationships and engage diverse stakeholders

· Strong organizational and project management skills

· Proficiency with standard office tools and digital platforms (e.g., databases, website, social media)

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

· Ability to travel locally multiple times a week
 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in the nonprofit or human services sector

· Knowledge of the Prince William County community

· Experience leading small or multi-functional teams

· Bilingual (English/Spanish)

· Experience in fundraising, public speaking, and communications
 

 

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions will be required.

Compensation & Classification

· Job Type: Part-time, Exempt

· Salary Range: $45,000 – $55,000 annually
